Man gets Rs 2.28 L compensation 7 years after accident

Greater Noida, Nov 10 (PTI)  A district court here awarded a compensation of Rs 2.28 lakh to a man for a 2010 accident following which he could not work for 22 months, a senior official said today. "Additional session judge Shivani Jaiswal awarded a total of Rs 2.28 lakh toward compensation to the victim," Lalit Mudgal, Senior Prosecution Officer, said. On August 20, 2010, Mahesh Tyagi was headed toward Vijay Nagar, in Ghaziabad, from Noida Sector 41 on his motorcycle when a speeding tempo hit him near Kendriya Vihar here. Tyagi suffered critical injuries and his motorcycle was badly damaged. He had to undergo treatment for a few months. He has already spent Rs 2 lakh as medical expenses. The court awarded him Rs 1.10 lakh toward loss of wages for 22 months, Rs 68,845 toward medical treatment, Rs 50,000 for transport and mental suffering. We do not like anonymous lists i.e. lists that purport to name  sexual predators  compiled by 1 person on the saying of other unnamed persons. We do not like them as we subscribe to old-school journalism viz. attribute, get-the-other-side, verify. Those lists seem unlikable to us as they legitimize all sorts of lists from ‘shameless women’ to ‘dog haters’... Here’s what happens to ‘due process’. October 31, 2017 Source Latest laws A newly-wed woman, who allegedly poisoned milk in a bid to kill her husband, caused the death of 13 of her in-laws in Punjab province of Pakistan after they drank the milk when it was mixed in ‘lassi’. This incident took place in Daulat Pur in Muzaffargarh area had been shrouded in mystery when it was reported two days ago that family members had died after accidental intake of the intoxicating beverage. Police have stated that the woman, identified as Aasia, had confessed to poisoning the milk. 39 Constitution Bench Cases,Supreme court succeeds in bringing its pendency below 60K 16

In the last two months, this has been reduced by 2,174 more cases. October 30, 2017: Source of  supremecourtofindia.nic.in Supreme Court has managed to bring down its case backlog below 60,000 through the concerted efforts, while the various courts across India struggle to clear the pending cases which run into a total of around three crore cases. When Justice Dipak Misra took over as CJI on August 28, total pending cases in Supreme Court stood at 57,774. Between August 28 and October 27, a number of filed cases stood at 7,021, while about 9,195 cases were disposed of. On May 1, 2017, total case backlog in the Supreme Court stood at 60,751 out of which 39 are the Constitution Bench matters. Reducing the pendency of the cases in the courts across the country has been a matter of priority for both Govt. and Supreme Court for a long time.
